Alan Bloom provides an intriguing point of view on the musical culture in American society. Bloom, in his critical composition, argues many things: young people only “live for music,” “classical music is dead among the young,” and that “rock music provides premature ecstasy.” However, one cannot accept all these points wholeheartedly, in fact, one can argue that Bloom does not provide the reader with a decent argument; instead, Bloom may be narrow-minded in considering only classical and rock music, and is making generalizations in categorizing all young people.
