This reflects Youtube’s offerings and opportunities given to artists globally.
The internet is infinate. There’s really no limit to it, especially for Google’s Youtube. This website has not only included famous artists that are signed to a record label, but the site also includes comedic users and even artists rising up from the ghettos of the internet. Is Youtube another website, offering expansion and popularity…or is Youtube a chance for opportunity?
Youtube includes music videos of famous artists of the 21st century such as Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Eminem, Lil’ Wayne, Maroon 5, Cee Lo Green, and many more. They have been heard all over the radio, MTV, Pandora, and even on an average 14 year-old’s Ipod, if you decide to take the teen’s Ipod. These artists, however, do not need to rely on this bravely standing site to get their daily paycheck and to stay as largely known as they are now.
Also, Youtube has entertainment to offer as well. This site has movies (yes, full length movies) for prices ranging between $4.99 to $9.99 (a rough estimate). With that, you may watch episodes from the shows that you know and love while talking with your best friend on Facebook. This site also includes skits and chunks from specific shows that are from networks such as Disney, G4, Spike, and BBC, giving you almost unlimited access to parts of shows that you may have missed (or that you love) on Youtube.
Smosh, Slow-Mo Guys, Rooster Teeth, Albino Black Sheep, gswanson17, and forrestfire101. What do they all have in common? They’re all apart of youtube’s giant span of comedic success. From farts to talking unicorns, and dancing waffles to ‘the duck song,’ every one of these (and more) notorious users have entertained the minds of millions of youths. These comedians have all gained attention of the eyes that belong to the new generation, and the administrators of Youtube (Google) has given these comedic geniuses their time to shine in the room of laughter ensuing silence.
What about rising musicians, such as Dave Days, Tiffany Alvord, Alex Goot, and Chad Sugg? These are all stars, who have at least 300,000 views each (artist, on average), and they aren’t belonging to a record label. These artists have very much potential (according to comments on the artists’ channels and videos), and Youtube has given these young, “fresh” artists what could be the biggest opportunity these artists will ever have. These artists not only perform covers of songs by famous musicians and singers, but these artists have also made their own songs and music videos, telling stories and the meaning behind the song.
