Twenty examples of incredibly sweet songs.
Twenty-Five of the Sweetest Songs Ever
The effects of music is far-reaching. It can trigger emotions locked deep inside, motivate and inspire. It can elevate, alter and most often soothe any particular mood. It can be an escape, a celebration and most times a chance to reflect. A special song can bridge memories to your heart, happy or sad and everything in between. The power of music is undeniable.
Music is also very personal and that’s exactly how it should be. Each song represents a bittersweet memory and I can immediately place where I was and what I was doing when first hearing each heart-tapping, beautiful melody.
A very difficult list to create I might add, but one I hope you might be able to relate with. In no particular order ~

To Sir With Love ~ Lulu One of my all-time favorite movies of the sixties and featured the great Sidney Poitier in one of his most memorable roles. To Sir with Love also included that era’s more popular iconic figures , Lulu, Suzy Kendall, and not to mention, the gorgeous Judy Geeson. Poetic Sweetness.
Heaven ~ Bryan Adams ~ A song of purity and innocence… Lyrically haunting and meant to be connected to only that one true love ~
“thinking about all our younger years
There was only you and me
We were young and wild and free
Now nothing can take you away from me
We’ve been down that road before
But that’s over now
You keep me coming back for more”
Brown Eyed Girl ~ Van Morrison ~ Such a sweet summer song…. “I saw you just the other day, my how have you grown” Brown Eyed Girl put Morrison on the map and is listed as one of the top 100 songs of all time. Instantly returns me to that certain place and time.
Your Song ~ Elton John “It’s a little bit funny this feeling inside, I’m not one of those who can easily hide, I don’t have much money, but boy if I did, I’d buy a big house where we both could live”……. “those are the sweetest eyes I have ever seen”…. a man’s honest intention to the love of his life. There is nothing sweeter. Commercially overplayed, but yet, every time I hear this song, I’m literally moved…. every time.
You and Me ~ lifehouse ~ “cause it’s you and me and all of the people with nothing to do, nothing to lose, and I don’t know why I can’t keep my eyes off of you.” Lifehouse captures the moment you realize that you’re in love, really in love.
All I want is you ~ U2 ~ Bono’s undying love for his wife is pure magic and pours out from his soul effortlessly when he preforms this song. “from the cradle to the grave… all I want is you.”

Nice list! Especially agree with your top 6. And Peter Gabriels’ inclusion. If you’re a fan, make sure you’ve heard his song “The Book of Love” – I’m sure many people have, but it’s too gorgeous to miss out on if not
(also used in the finale of Scrubs!)
Really nice article

I love these songs, especially “You and Me”, “Time After Time”, and “Heaven”. You are certainly right, there is a song we have in mind for everyone we know. Music is a wonderful thing! It is sad to think about the messages some songs send nowadays, yet we listen to them because they are catchy. Too bad all music couldn’t be as great as this list, thanks!

All crap, man!
Where’s Pink Floyd’s “Julia Dream”?
Where Aviador Dro’s “Frequency Selector”?
What about Nick Cave’s “Into My Arms”?
You know nothing!
How can anyone say Brian Adams has a single song worth half of any of these?
Jerk off!
