Top 10 Romantic Song Lyrics

These song lyrics will make your significant other’s heart melt.

I’ve seen a lot of posts on various websites questioning the most romantic lines in music. Below is a list of my top ten most romantic song lyrics. These lines cover many musical genres and time periods. The theme is romance, and the official word is “woah, I feel it right here (hand over chest*).” After I compiled this list, I realized most of the lines weren’t what you would normally expect on a top ten list of romantic songs. However, I’ve explained my choices and hope you will agree with at least most of them.

  1. “When the night is dark and stormy /You won’t have to reach out for me I will come to you Oh, I will come to you” -Hanson, “I Will Come to You”

We all want to believe there will be someone there when we are scared or alone. This song is very satisfying, because it promises companionship and support through tough times. I’m not really a Hanson fan, but this song deserves a spot on this countdown.

  2. “I knew I loved you before I met you I think I dreamed you into life/ I knew I loved you before I met you/I have been waiting all my life” -Savage Garden, ” I Knew I Loved You”

Ok, so to be honest, my favorite song by Savage Garden is “I Want You,” but that song doesn’t fit on this list. “I Knew I Loved You” is romantic because it plays into the idea of soul mates. I like the song because I want to believe there is a true love out there for everyone. Somewhere out there, there is someone I can love and who could love me back, and that without each other wouldn’t be whole.”And I want to wake up with the rain

  3. Falling on a tin roof While I’m safe there in your arms/So all I ask is for you To come away with me in the night/Come away with me.” -Norah Jones, “Come Away With Me”

There is no way to have a list of romantic songs without including a song by Norah Jones. Her voice is so beautiful and sultry. One of the best things about being in love is that you only need each other to feel alive. You could run away from everything, but as long as you are together nothing else matters.

  4. “Hello there, the angel from my nightmare/The shadow in the background of the morgue /The unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley /We can live like Jack and Sally if you want /Where you can always find me We’ll have Halloween on Christmas /And in the night we’ll wish this never ends We’ll wish this never ends” -Blink 182, “I Miss You”

A dark love: that’s what I want. The world is dark and depressing, and I need someone to walk through the fog with me. You wouldn’t expect such a romantic tune from three guys who like to run around naked, but “I Miss You” contains some of the most beautiful imagery ever contained in a love song. In a horrible, nightmare world, two people can be there for each other and run through a cemetery at twilight. Also, the fourth line is a clear reference to “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” and what could be better than that?

  5. “I’m falling even more in love with you/I’m letting go of all I’ve held on to I’m hanging by a moment, here with you” -Lifehouse, “Hanging by a Moment”

This song was suggested to me by a friend, but I do see the romance in these lines. When involved in a true love, all the little moments matter.

  6. “Cause even when I dream of you/The sweetest dream will never do/I’d still miss you baby And I don’t want to miss a thing” -Aerosmith, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”

We are right back to those little moments. Time spent with the one you love is precious and missing even seconds can feel like missing a lifetime of memories. This is one of my favorites because of the vocal performance by Tyler. It is absolutely amazing. Boo, on that country jerk that redid the song, even though I don’t even remember who it was.

  7. “If I lay here If I just lay here /Would you lie with me and just forget the world?” -Snow Patrol, “Chasing Cars”

I do not care how cheesy it sounds, I love this song. Just hearing it, this song is so soft and lovely. I find it extremely romantic, and therefore appropriate for this countdown. Nearing the top of the list, the songs are getting more heartfelt. When you don’t care about anything but each other, now that is romantic.

  8. “There ain’t nothing that I wouldn’t do/Go to the ends of the earth for you/ To make you happy, make our dreams come true To make you feel my love” -Garth Brooks, “To Make You Feel My Love”

Double negative aside, this song is amazing. I want someone to offer to go “to the ends of the earth” for me. I mean, who doesn’t? Garth Brooks is a favorite anyway. The suggestion is romantic enough, although I was a little hesitant to put the song on THIS list. It has always come across as a song about heartbreak for me. I absolutely hate the idea of unreciprocated love, and this song is its spokesperson. Nevertheless, the idea is unparalleled romance.

  9. “I’m outside of your window with my radio/ You are the only station/ You play the song I know You are the song I know” -Hawthorne Heights, “Niki FM”

Every time I hear the first line, my hand goes straight over my heart. I absolutely love music. One of my favorite bands, Hawthorne Heights pays tribute to Mr. Cusack in this song, and I love it. If you stand outside my window and play the radio for me, I’m all yours. Just thinking about it makes me want a puppy-love romance.

  10. “Lights will guide you home /And ignite your bones/ And I will try to fix you” -Coldplay, “Fix You”

I cannot believe I referenced this song to someone, and I am still single. I believe my exact words were, “I wanted you to fix me, just like in the song.” Ah, unreciprocated love, it hurts so badly. Coldplay is my top three on the list of my all-favorite bands. Chris Martin has the most beautiful voice, and the piano fits so appropriately with the overall tone of the song. I love it. It is absolutely breathtaking in its beauty. I’m broken, but love can save me.
