Is rap going in the gutter o is it just evolving in to something better.

hello

ive listened to rap all my life i started out with 2pac the first track i heard from him was unconditional love. I can say i was instantly hooked i thought to my self wow how did this guy make such a powerfull and emotional song/track. and  now after hearing this new garbage thats on mtv 24/7 lil wayne gucci justin bieber and some other nameless rap community embarresments i think to myself what message are they sending out to thier communitys they cant touch old school rap but they think thier the best.

all they rap about  is money cars womem jewelry and o and more women they have little to no talent and thier lines make no sense and they think thier the greatest when thier just mainstream junk that no one will remember if they passed or retired

respect to all real rappers

2pac

biggie

nas

eminem

rakim

Wu Tang Clan

theres loads more these are just a few :)

tell me if u agree with me by sending me comment o am i just one person trying to get out of a sea of garbage

It’s true that most rappers today rap about jewelry, cars, money and ‘hos’ but the question you have to ask yourself is this: has the consumer climate evolved or are these rappers intentionally dumbing the genre down? In my experience, I’d say it’s the consumer climate; that and the fact that declining album sales (due to the rise of online downloading) has caused labels to be more demanding, which causes most artists to churn out album after album. It’s not always because so & so would rather rap about the trivial topics you mentioned but sadly, like most things, it’s big business and if you’re not giving the consumer what they want, you don’t get exposure and your earnings will not be sufficient enough to make a living out of it. There are plenty of alternatives to mainstream hip hop, though. You just have to dig it up for yourself.

It would be much better if rap meant something. I guess we are in a new era. Old school Rappers are the best!
