MEXICO CITY, November 6 (EL UNIVERSAL) .- In 65 years at La Scala in Milan, the Cathedral of the opera in the world, has received Mexican talent, four tenors: Guillermo Sarabia, Francisco Araiza, Fernando de la Mora, Ramon Vargas and two sopranos: Oralia Dominguez (1952 and 1960) and Maria Alejandra (2011).

The debut in June of Alexander, born under the name of Mary Katzarava meant one of the best news of the year for Mexican opera world. The criticism was unanimous in celebrating national success in a short but promising career the soprano 27 years of age.

From his role in Roméo et Juliette by Charles Gounod, at La Scala, highlighted his poetic tone of her voice, her interpretive refinement and brilliance.

The story of his successful career began when she was a child, under the guidance of their parents, renowned musicians of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Mexico City, but the official biography dictates that the spearhead was the first in opera and operetta international competition Operalia 2008, which became the first Mexican to obtain the distinguished medal.

I once heard Maria Ramon Vargas and was impressed, so he asked that Mary Opera Pro being awarded a grant to fund training to improve their voice.

After the scholarship, Alejandra has stepped on some of the most important in Europe, Asia and America, performing leading roles. It also signed a new contract with La Scala in Milan in 2012 to sing the operas Manon, Massenet, and Rigoletto, by Verdi.

His schedule is tight. While in New York, go to an email interview with El Universal.

He stated that he is obliged to seek perfection or at least

to approach her. In this sense, beyond the discipline of daily work, how is a perfect singer?

It is true, I think there is a perfect singer. The magic is that just are “imperfect” humans.

She is convinced that to give the best in each function is necessary mental strength and security-vocal musician. Could you elaborate what you mean with mental strength and how it gets it?

At a concentration required to stay alert always on stage.

How bears the strong competition that should exist in the middle opera?

The competition is above all to himself and so you never lose ground. I’m always happy to know that other Americans are doing a national and international career and I like to support them.

Many artists dedicated to such demanding disciplines such as ballet or opera often say that no sacrifices when you do what you love. However, what you could say that there is a fine line between pleasure and pain can cause a job that demands perfection? If you agree, how is that line?

I agree because that line is crossed constantly by simply moving away from family for long periods, with being far from home, with care and should seek to have a physical health take you to the proper conduct of the race.

It is a young soprano. What is the repertoire that have long term aims?

For my kind of voice I know I can sing much more lyric roles a few years.

What do they say names like Angela Peralta, Fanny Anitua, Pina Carrillo, Oralia Dominguez and Gilda Cruz Romo?

There are awards that our country has received through these important voices in Mexico.

The young singers often refer that to succeed in opera and / or to achieve a high level, you need to leave Mexico. You, however, has said that it is absolutely necessary because in our country there are teachers who can work as well as abroad. What remains then for there to be a widespread view that Mexico can also bring into being a promising career?

What are some young singers fault is the commitment to music. It is sometimes thought that only having a good instrument is sufficient and need not leave Mexico to find out how to make the music properly, to pronounce a language correctly and to sing to each composer in his right style.

Mexican and foreign criticism has been treated very well. What impact does the praise in your life?

Compliments are always appreciated but I try to never lose the ground, besides, I am my own worst critic or better.

While all the successes he has won are the result of hard work, could you describe a time when you’ve discovered something special herself onstage?

Everything finally discovers extraordinary on stage, since a trial begins and continues with the functions.

What does it mean in your life as an artist and person, Juliette?

I, like Juliette, I discovered the world as a young singer who I am. It means all the thrills and challenges that have led me by the hand to what is now my career. I have a lot of love for this role.

Tell us about the operas of “Manon” by Massenet, and “Rigoletto” by Verdi at La Scala.

Manon and Gilda are roles that I am preparing to come to sing at La Scala and are now my challenges.

What is the importance in his career the Palace of Fine Arts and would like to sing there?

The Palace of Fine Arts is the largest opera house in our country and I think should always be considered that way. I have not sung a major role there, but I would like to sing a Lucia di Lammermoor, a Traviata, or a Romeo et Juliette.
