Not only did they win Best British Group at the Brits (1987), they were the youngest ever band (using their combined age at the time) to top the album charts (with "Silk & Steel") - a record they held for over 15yrs until Busted came along - not to mention countless other awards :-) I think you are all forgetting one important family band that had massive success during their reign on the pop charts – Five Star.
