Thoughts on the sustainability of life on Earth since we, mankind, have trashed our planet, using lyrics from the Roger Waters song "Amused to Death" as a prod to awake us to what we have done to ourselves. Which begs the question; “are we self-destructing?”.
Busy with a frantically busy life, oblivious of the truths of reality and the after-life, do we ever wonder what we look like from the outside, beyond our hemisphere? Imagine being an alien scientist watching us humans self destruct and trash our planet. Here is Roger Waters’ story in the lyrics of one of his songs.
A piece of the lyrics from the song ‘Amused to Death’ by Roger Waters (from the album Amused to Death)
…. We watched the tragedy unfold
We did as we were told
We bought and sold
It was the greatest show on earth
But then it was over
We oohed and aahed
We drove our racing cars
We ate our last few jars of caviar
And somewhere out there in the stars
A keen-eyed look-out
Spied a flickering light
Our last hurrah
And when they found our shadows
Grouped around the TV sets
They ran down every lead
They repeated every test
They checked out all the data on their lists
And then the alien anthropologists
Admitted they were still perplexed
But on eliminating every other reason
For our sad demise
They logged the only explanation left
This species has amused itself to death
No tears to cry, no feelings left,
This species has amused itself to death.

Hmmmmm, I think we are screwed. WHAT SAY YOU?
