List Of Untimely Rocker Deaths,I began making this list in 10th grade as a memorial not for morbidity.
I made this list in tenth grade, you may wonder why and frankly I am not quite sure. I love rock music as much as anyone but I think these deaths were especially tragic John Lennon-struck down by a crazed fans bullet,December 8,1980. Ironically December 8, is another rockers birthday. That’s right, Jim Morrison was born December 8,1943.
Kurt Cobain, supposed suicide April 5,1994, there is still speculation that Cobain may not have killed himself. I covered that story in another article found http://www.musicouch.com/Genres/Rock/Kurt-Cobain-Murdered.185657
Next, we have one all “Deadheads” will remember well. Good old Captain Trips, Jerry Garcia. (pictured below)

He died of a heart attack,in August of 1995 in California. I think he was a beatnik to the fullest extent of the word. There will never be another like him he’s as bygone as the hippie era in which he shot to stardom. Fortunately, his music will be around for ages more to come.
I am deeply saddened by any untimely demise, and no matter how they went out I don’t judge.
Dear readers, may the music roll on, thanks for reading.

John
Certainly the music world lost some great talent with these individuals…but as you said, their music is our legacy.
And think of the great talent taken by plane crashes: John Denver, Johnny Horton, Ricky Nelson, Patsy Cline, Richie Valdez, and I know I am missing some.

It’s amazing how we never get tired of hearing their music. It sounds better than a lot of the mess they play today. Great article.

Jerry was not only a great guitarist but he was also versed in many different styles of music…a few examples, he did an album with howard wales a keyboard player I think from San Francisco, he was really into Blue Grass, Jazz, American Folk, country picking Banjos. Jerry was probably one of the most versatile guitar players the world has ever seen. His influence on other players and sound production is endless. He was the california sound that helped mold the whole Haight-Ashbury music scene and he is missed by literally millions of people.
