“I’ve heard every album, listened to the radio, waiting for something to come along, that was as good as our song…”. Lyrics from “Our Song by Taylor Swift.
Not only is she stunningly beautiful, young (born in Dec, 13, 1989) and famous, this girl is genuinely talented. She started writing her own songs at a young age, preforming them publicly at Karaoke contests as young as 11. She tried out in Nashville at this tender age, failed, but was not discouraged.
Interestingly enough she was not one of the particularly popular girls in school but did not let that break her determination. She learned to play the guitar and her folks moved to a Nashville suburb when she was only 14. Her folks, mind you, were not famous celebrities, Taylor Swift got no easy breaks into the music industry, it was pure talent.
With the help of MySpace and supportive friends, this girls popularity soared.

In 2006 she released the single “Tim McGraw”, who for those not familiar with country music, is a rather famous Country singer of modern times. Taylors song says “When you think Tim McGraw, I hope you think of me”. It is basically a relationship song, but it brought the spot light onto this girl, and now when people think of Tim McGraw they do think of her.
MySpace continues to be a very important part of Taylors spreading popularity, she has over 200 million music streams and has been one of the most popular searches in music, regardless of genre.
“Our Song” was the third release and is sung with a definite country twang. Nonetheless it tells a story that pulls at the heart strings of every one who takes the time to listen to the lyrics.
I will not give away the beautiful part of this song, but suffice it to say I am not a typical country fan, in fact I generally prefer punk, and 80’s new wave, or even goth, but this dang song makes me cry every time.

“Love Story” came out in September, 2007 and the beginning of the song “We were both young when I first saw you, I close my eyes and the flash back starts…” assures the listener of a happy ending. By February 2009 Love Story became the country song with the most paid downloads in history, and the first country song ever to reach the top of Mainstream Top 40. Impressive enough, until in September 2009 her other song “You Belong with Me” did the same thing.
She has started to break into the pop music industry as these songs are not so country as too offend people who prefer pop and rock music.
She really became known after an infamous incident during the September 2009 MTV music awards. Her acceptance speech for Best Female Video was instantly interrupted by Kanye West, who took the microphone out of Tayor Swifts hands and said Beyonce should have clearly won. In a twist of fate later that night Beyonce, upon winning Best Video of the Year, allowed Taylor to finish her acceptance speech, and the two hugged.
In November 2009 this talented, young, and beautiful girl won four awards at the CMA’s. She took home awards for Album of the Year, Music Video of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year.

I am a huge fan and will remain so until she, like her forerunners follow the demands of her producers and follow the lure of the crossover. Enjoyed your article.

This young lady is obviously a talent that will be around for a long time. To have started so young and still have been able to keep such a level head is saying something in todays “entertainment industry.” She has put to words what many young people feel and expresses it with artistic ability.
