Hallelujah, I’m in love again. (-Switchfoot)
I truly believe that music is one of the most amazing forms of art. In many ways, I think it’s one of the most influential art forms around. After all, you can find it in almost every walk of life, from movies to elevators, radio stations to cell phone ringtones, and on and on.
For myself, I really don’t know how I’d get through the day without it. I listen to the Pandora radio station all day long (if you haven’t heard of this station before you really need to check it out Pandora.com. It allows you to set your own stations by choosing a song or artist that you love and then it will automatically find similar songs or artists to play, so that you’ll always have a stream of new great music to enjoy throughout your day, and it’s free). I have a passion for continually finding new, exceptional songs to fall in love with and Pandora’s become one of the coolest additions to my daily life.
And, every once in awhile, when I remember to, I like to take the time to share some of the great songs I’ve been listening to with others. Because I’ve recently really been struck by the exceptional beauty of the group Switchfoot, I’ve decided to share a few songs of their songs I’ve fallen in love with. I hope you love them as much as I do, enjoy!
(Note: if the youtube videos below don’t work, just click on them twice and it’ll open a new window directly from youtube and you can listen to the song.)
“Head Over Heels” by Switchfoot
It’s so interesting how you can listen to music all day long and yet forget some groups that you’ve fallen in love with before, but just hadn’t heard in awhile. Recently I heard a song by Switchfoot that made me want to start exploring all the songs on this group’s albums and I came across this live performance. It immediately captured my heart because of the passion and raw talent. And, being a romantic at heart, well, the lyrics are just perfect.
“You’re my only one in this life.”
“You’re the one place I call home.”
“In this life you’re the feeling I belong.”
“Always” by Switchfoot
This is the original Switchfoot song I heard that propelled me to explore the rest of the albums in this group’s collection. This song’s beyond magnificent in my book. It has a spiritual, gentle feel to it. It makes you feel like you’re floating in heaven. It makes you experience the singer’s hurt in a hopeful joyous manner. It’s simply divine.
“I’m always yours.”
“Hallelujah, I’m in love again.”
“Hallelujah, every breath is a second chance.”
“It is always yours.”
“This is Home” by Switchfoot
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful – I think I just realized one of the reasons why I love this group so much. They have an exceptional way of sharing some really painful emotions in an uplifting way that doesn’t leave the listener feeling sad or hurt, but instead leaves one feeling hopeful that tomorrow and every breath truly is a second chance to begin again. His voice is soft, passionate and sublime. I’m hooked.
“I can’t go back to how it was.”
“I’ve come too far.”
“Created for a place I’ve never known.”
“Now I’m finally where I below, yeah this is home.”
