I have never bothered what the hype was about with Susan Boyle and Britain’s Got Talent shows. It is just not the type of shows I would watch on a regular basis. Anyway, my boss decided to show a video clip of the first time Susan Boyle stepped on stage to showcase her talent and what a surprise I got!
As Susan Boyle get on stage, it was pretty obvious that she was not a favourite. She did not have the looks, in fact she looks old with some grey hair. She was not wearing anything fashionable or current, just a simple and conservative dress. I find her a little cheeky in the beginning and everyone was making fun of her. They laughed at her, but when she started singing, everyone started clapping and even stood in ovation. Her voice was powerful. She has such great control over her vocals. Superb performance!
1) Courage
I admire her courage, first of all, to be able to come up on stage to be scrutinised by the entire nation and the world, and be judged as to whether she really had the talent to be a professional singer.
2) Age
Susan Boyle mentioned that she was 47. She said that she has never been given the chance to start her career as a professional singer. Many would have thought that it is a little late to try something new in life. But it’s proven that age is of no concern to achieve what we want to achieve and do what we want to do.
3) Practice
Such vocal talent that Susan Boyle has need lots of practice. Like my boss said, it is possible that she may have been practising on the same song for years to have it presented at a big break, like at the Britain’s Got Talent show. But she has been singing since she’s 12, thus she must have had lots of practice.

4) Have a Dream
Susan Boyle dreams to be a professional singer and I think that she’s living her dream now. She has cut an Album entitled I Dreamed a Dream, something she’d probably had wanted to do for a long time.
Susan Boyle is an inspiration to me. While watching the video clip, I had tears in my eyes. She was brilliant. I feel that a singer has performed well if he/she were able to touch the hearts of his/her listeners. She has touched mine with her powerful voice and a song with a strong message. An inspiring story!

Thank you for sharing this. Susan Boyle does have a beautiful voice and she truly does deserve a lot of credit for having the guts to make a change even at 47. Most women would not take that chance. But she is an inspiration to all women in the world. Amen Susan B.
