Stereotypes

Are you tired of people being stereotyped? I know I am.

So you know how at school everybody seems to be sorted into their own groups? Their own cliques. Nobody ever mingles with people from other groups or cliques. Why is that?

At my school, of course we have the preps. The preps are the most popular kids at school. They dress in the most expensive clothes and have all the latest technology. They can get any guy or girl they want with the blink of an eye. But are they really all that different from you and me?

Then of course we have the jocks. Most of the jocks belong with the prep group. They are the most athletic students and have killer bodies. Most of them couldn’t ace a test if they tried. What makes them so special?

Then there’s the rednecks. The country folk. The guys and gals that work on the farm and really don’t care about clothes or shoes. They are comfortable in a pair of jeans and boots. Why are they so different?

I could go on and on about the different groups in my school. The band members, geeks, nerds, goths,  ect. It just goes on and on. Then, there are people like me and my friends that really don’t fit in anywhere. Not saying that’s a bad thing. I like not belonging to a clique. I have a wider variety of friends.

So I ask, Why does society have to give everybody a label?  Why can’t anybody just be themselves? I will never understand.
