A different kind of label.

Image via Wikipedia

Southern soul with a southern feel. Started by whites and molded by blacks and whites with a on the spot feel. They know for creating Otis, no not Williams. I’m talking about Redding. who probably one of the biggest act with Johnny Taylor. Steve Cropper is very under rated by standard as a writer. He a very talented guitarist. And Booker T. and the Mg. The original Barkays, the artist might not get the exposure like the Detroit label. But they known. Issac Hayes(may God bless him)Dave Porter and others was the glue to the factory of Soulville.

A different label with a different spin.

Hayes and Porter was to Stax, as two. Like the Hollands/D0zier were to Motown, as three. And the in house bands(Booker T. group) and the original Barkay were their version of the funk brothers. Who knows they probably could be called the Soulville Bothers. Southern soul with a southern groove.

Too bad that all the independent labels are slowly fading away. Those was how the up and coming stars was made. New artist and new material.
