These are songs, some more popular than others, that reference Monday in the title, and some tell a story or of an emotion connected to that, least favorite, day of the week.
Blue Monday by New Order. Recorded in 1982, and released in 1983. This song is noted for being nearly seven and a half minutes long, and is also considered the best selling 12inch record of all time. It was a popular club dance song of its time. A little background on the band may explain the title. New Order use to be Joy Division, fronted by Ian Curtis, who killed himself just before they were suppose to go on tour. The tour departure was to start on a Monday.
Manic Monday by The Bangles. Written by Prince in 1984, it was released by The Bangles in 1986. Singing to the strife of getting to work on time and suffering through the work week, this song again, is down on Monday. The song wishes for Sunday, since it’s a fun day, but perhaps if the fun day were moved to Tuesday, then getting to work on time Monday morning might not seem like such an effort.
New Moon on Monday by Duran Duran. Released in January 1984. This song was just beginning to find its success when, pardon the lunar pun, it was eclipsed by their next release, The Reflex.
Monday, Monday, Monday by Tegan and Sara. Released in 2003. Okay, well it can be said that everything that was to be said about Mondays has already been said before. None the less these gals offer up their tune.
Mayonnaise Taco Monday by Five Iron Frenzy. Released in 2003. Mayonnaise on Taco’s.. really?
Monday Morning Church by Allan Jackson. Released in 2004, proving that even country artists are familiar with the day Monday.
Permanent Monday by Gordon Sparks. Released in 2007. Are we done with Monday songs yet? Don’t people know of other days of the week? What about Thursday?

Great review of titles and artists who attended to this topic. It causes me some trip down memory lane.

Very nice song recollection here. I like Manic Monday best because I could recall my girlfriend singing it during our high school days.

I had forgotten about some of these songs, Monday looks a little brighter with some of these playing.

Funny, although this list was about Mondays, the reference to Duran Duran song “The Reflex” has me singing that in my head… at least it is happier than most of the Monday songs…
