Seven Cover Songs That Rock

Information and videos of seven cover songs and their originals including Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Poison, Greenday and more.

This is a sequel to my article  Top Three Cover Songs: Alient Ant Farm, Warrant and Ugly Kid Joe

Of course sometimes in the heat of the moment, you forget some other great things that are related to your topics. These are the songs that I Iove and I am totally into the covers as well. And it get just better when the song is done faster or the video is much more entertaining.

Song: What I like about you

Origin: The Romantics

 Cover: Poison

This 1979’s song is remixed and used many times. And I can’t blame them. This song is adorable. A song with romantic lyrics but you can totally dance to it. And don’t you love how the harmonica blends with the guitars and drums?

In fact it is the name and the theme song of the tv show “What I like about you” (2002-2006) starring Amanda Bynes and Nick Zano. I knew about the song way before the show and loved it. The show is cute and it fits the title. But if you want to get more into rocknroll and more guitar, Poison is the band you are looking for.

The Original:

The Cover:

*Song: Hush

Origin: Deep Purple

Cover: Kula Shaker

I am a little embarrassed but I didn’t know this song was a cover. I had heard it from Kula Shaker first and adored it. In my defense, the original is from 1967. I love them both but I prefer Kula Shaker’s version because it is more energetic and they have spiced it up a little bit.

Deep Purple

Kula Shaker

Song: You really got me

Original: The Kinks

Every song on this list does rock. I’m going to play the “You Really Got Me” video by The Kinks as soon as I submit this comment.

That was great. I’m going to search YouTube and see if I can’t find the Kinks doing some of their other hits. Especially, All Day All Night and Set Me Free.

@Guy: I am glad you enjoyed the piece, Guy. The Kinks are amazing at creating addictively catchy tunes and combining with good riffs. And when another rock band makes it even faster, my ears are in heaven:)

@PR Mace: Thanks. It took me a long time to write this one with all the pics and videos but I had a blast!

Fabulous list of covers and the originals. I like the Greenday and Lennon WCH versions especially since they have real depth in its meaning.:)

You have got some of my old favourites there and I don’t think they can be beaten. A very enjoyable article.
