A countdown of the seven best selling singles of the year so far in 2010.
2010 has so far been a great year for music. There have been many up and coming new artists hitting the charts with excellent singles. This countdown is the 7 best selling singles of 2010 so far and what i think of them.
7. Lady Gaga Ft Beyonce- Telephone:
Yet again another fantastic single from Lady Gaga, this time featuring another US legend, Beyonce. After her hits including Just Dance, Pokerface, Paparazzi and Bad Romance, i think this is the best one yet. I think this shows her devotion to music, even if she is a little gaga, by her own admission. She is very much like marmite and i like marmite and think she is going to be a leading artist for years to come.
6. Tinie Tempah Ft Lambrinth- Pass Out:
When i first heard this song, i will be honest, i hated it. But it has been growing on me and now i like it. Tinie Tempah has a unique sound and i think this single proves it. The song has a very easy listening chorus ” yeah we bring the stars out, we bring the women and the cars and the cards out, let’s have a toast, a celebration, get a glass out, and we can do this until we pass out.” Again i think we will hear alot more from Tinie Tempah.
5. Alicia Keys- Empire State Of Mind Part II
What an amazing singer Alicia Keys is. She is not a predictable artist and i think she shows that with her new album, The Element Of Freedom. Having done the previous song with Jay Z, Empire State Of Mind, she then done her own version of it and outsold Mr Z. Her voice is one that stands out and every single she has done, particularly on her new album.
4. Rihanna- Rude Boy
This is a totally different type of single to her one previous to this one, Russian Roulette. Rihanna has a great way of changing how she delivers her singles, normally alternating between a slow and fast song. Apparently, so i heard, Rihanna did not have long to shoot this video as they were going to film it in the Caribbean, in her home country of Barbados, i think, but they ran out of time. Instead it was shot in a studio, which to me is impressive stuff, especially as looking at the video with all the colours and exotic things. Rihanna is now moved on to her next single Te Amo.
3. Iyaz- Replay
Hardly surprised that this is in the top three of the best selling singles of the year so far. If i am thinking right, this was Iyaz’s debut single after being signed by Beautiful Girls singer Sean Kingston. It is a great feel good summer tune and i think it deserved to sell as many copies as it did. Iyaz has now released his follow up single, Solo.
2. Owl City- Fireflies
Owl City burst into the limelight with this smooth single, Fireflies. Fronted by Adam Young who started making music in his apartment, allegedly after suffering insomnia. I think if i could make something as good as this single, i would not mind suffering insomnia all the time! It reached number 1 in the charts on the 24th January 2010. I have not yet heard any follow up singles but i am highly anticipating them.
Cover of Everybody Hurts
1. Helping Haiti- Everybody Hurts
This single was initiated by Simon Cowell after the Haiti earthquake. Gordon Brown agreed to not charge VAT and REM also agree not to have any royalties paid to them. Artists who appeared in this single include: Leona Lewis, James Blunt, Mika, Cheryl Cole, Alexandra Burke, Michael Buble, Mariah Carey, JLS, Susan Boyle, and Robbie Williams. There are also many more who contributed. I think it was for a great cause and it rightly deserves the number 1 spot on this countdown.

These aren’t the best selling singles! Where’s Tik Tok? That song broke records!

@ Jill
Thanks for reading but i did my research and yes these are the biggest selling singles of 2010 on the day of writing.
Tik Tok was released in 2009, hence why it is not on the 2010 list, but it’s a great song anyway!
Once again thanks for reading and taking the time to comment.
