Thankfully we all have different tastes and memories, but here are a few more of my own favourites, bringing back memories of loved ones, lost loves, tear jerker moments or just emotional times in my life.
Hope you enjoy them.
An unsung hero of a track this one. My teenage era was the 80’s and these lyrics have followed me through life ever since. A haunting and unusually sensual track from this otherwise upbeat band.
This is actually not a sad sounding song, but Suzanne’s wonderfully soft voice, the melody and the lyrics have always but always brought tears to my eyes. It used to be because I longed for someone to hold. Nowadays I love it because it reminds me of my wonderful wife….my rock.
Anyone who’s seen my work before will know that I’m a huge John Denver fan (thanks to my wonderful Mum). Excuse the jet plane images in this video which don’t quite fit and instead, concentrate on the lyrics. He wrote this about his feelings every time he had to go on the road touring. For me though, I just hate saying goodbye….
If this classic doesn’t strike a chord somewhere with each and every person who listens to its lyrics, then I’ll eat my hat. This has always been hailed as an anti suicide song, and rightly so. Everybody hurts, everybody crys. Take comfort in your friends. You’re not alone. Ever. Seek help and you’ll find it. Somebody out there DOES care and WILL offer support. A wonderful track.

Buzz, great choices! I was still young enough in the 80’s to enjoy the music and more importantly, the lyrics!
