There is the rhythm and then the lyrics and each one of them can have a profound effect on your choice and preference of a song.

Have you been in that situation where you love a song that you have not quite grasped the lyrics only for you to check out the lyrics and discover it is all wrong and don’t reflect your ideology?

Songs come to you in two parts, there is the rhythm and then the lyrics and each one of them can have a profound effect on your choice and preference.

You may love the lyrics of a song and hate the rhythm; you may also love a rhythm but hate the lyrics. A song that will have your heart immediately is a song that has lyrics and rhythm that appeals to you. Songs like that will naturally make you all time favorite list. They are songs that easily come to mind.

I have found out that it is always better to love a lyric and dislike the rhythm than to love the rhythm and not the lyric. When you love a lyric after awhile you will start to love the rhythm of the song. This may not be so for some people, what will one therefore do with a song like that? You can fit that lyric into the rhythm of another song you love and so doing create two songs out of one.

But where the problem is with the lyrics you can unleash your creativity by amending the lyric as you see fit. You can also write an entirely new lyric based on what the rhythm of the song invokes in you.

Music is food to the soul and as much as possible you need to enjoy the food as you eat it. Any time the lyric or the rhythm is not what you’d like, change it as outlined above or in any other way you see fit and have fun while you are at it.
