I’m here to talk about the teen “celeb”, Rebecca Black. In 2011, the Black family and ARK Music Factory released the well-known music video, “Friday”, after her mother paid the music factory $4,000 to create the music video and basically get her career started. After the music video’s debut on YouTube (a well-known media sharing website), people began to watch it.

The video was viral, but it wasn’t in a positive factor. Although the video had lots of views (I mean in millions), the people who watched the video mostly didn’t have a very good response to it. Most gave a negative review towards the video, but that didn’t stop persuading Rebecca! She continues to passionately work on her career. She is a very “emotionally-strong” girl.

No matter how many people disliked that music video, she kept trying in her music career. All the hating on her video actually helped her career, and made the video popular, well-known, and even got her nominated for a few awards!

These so called “haters” were, and still are, actually helping Black’s career! Miss Rebecca Black got so bullied on the internet, that talk-shows were asking her to come on, and she stated that she cried a few times about the cyber-bullying towards her video. But she did state the song is “catchy” in its own way, and she’s actually not the worst singer out there.

Often times, Rebecca is compared to Justin Bieber, but Bieber is critisized mostly by the comments. I’ve seen comments that say things like, “At least she’s better than Justin Bieber!” Others (the ‘antonym’ of that) would say something like, “Even Justin Bieber is better than this!” Either way, they are critisizing Justin Bieber. Bieber really does carry more positive fans though. There are a lot of people who do not like him, but every artist has haters. Most people who watch Rebecca’s video hate it, but Justin actually has a large amount of fans. I’m not saying I’m a fan of Bieber’s work, but that is the truth.

Even though many people have a strong dislike for Rebecca, she still got a role in Katy Perry’s music video for “Last Friday Night” as a party host.

Talk-Show OMG!

Yes, she got on talk-shows. She’s been on a lot, mainly about the internet dislike towards her viral music video for “Friday”. “Friday” is a well-known song now, and more people are starting to support her, but a large number still dislike her.

But back to the talk-show points.

Rebecca Black’s mother was on one of the newstalk-shows once. She told the crew that she “probably could’ve killed a few people here”. Isn’t that weird? Is Rebecca Black’s mother a crazy serial killer? After that video was posted on YouTube, a few people made a comment about Rebecca Black’s mother being a murderer!
