Comparing the quality of today’s music to the quality of music from yesteryear. Music today just isn’t what it used to be, that’s for sure!
Music is truly completely different now than it was back then, and I don’t just mean the sound. As much as I enjoy an abundance of today’s hits, I have a greater appreciation and relation to the music from the 1960s and 1970s.
Part of it is because it was what my parents (Dad especially) raised us on, but it’s also my preference and knowledge. It seemed like artists actually used their talents to create a truly unique sound (i.e. the Beatles recording 500+ songs and not ONE sounds anything like another in their catalog… or any other song out there for that matter, as well as being the first band ever to include a full orchestra into Rock music).
It seriously boggles my mind how artists (or for rappers… huh, I cannot even think of a word for them) have become so big. They either have nothing intelligent to tell the world (and by that, I mean 99% of rappers) or they sound the same as another artist (i.e. bands like Franz Ferdinand, the Killers, and Modest Mouse, and 99.9999999% of rappers). If they don’t fit into either of those categories, they just sound terrible, are fake beyond all words of comparison, or they have poorly crafted lyrics.

Hmmm, why dont we generalize more about everything happening in music right now? Lets just throw some more blanket statements out there, its what the people want to hear hahaha.
