“This night, this crowd… c’mon on y’all let’s take this town” (O.A.R.)
Pandora radio station is my staple at work. It keeps me going strong all day long. It’s my 5-hour energy shot, it’s my endless source of energy; I seriously don’t know what I’d do without music.
Everyday, because of the awesome nature of Pandora, that continually plays all the music similar to your favorite bands, it seems that I hear a new song from a new band almost every other day!
The band of focus for this article is O.A.R. It’s absolutely phenomenal. Check out my favorite picks from this band below!
This Town
“This town, this night, this crowd… c’mon on y’all let’s take this town”
I LOVE the energy and beat of this song! It’s so UP it really makes you want to “stand up on your feet”. It’s fun, it’s happy and it’s inspirational. And, in addition to making you want to get up and dance all day long, it’s also got a romantic message about love rising above all. It’s truly wonderful!
Shattered
“…it’s always back to you.”
“I’m good without you”
“I always turn the car around”
Yet again, O.A.R. successfully creates a lively, beautiful beat with a perfectly passionate voice to move the song forward with energy and a magical melody. This song really expresses how the ups and downs of a relationship can really make a person question everything about themselves and yet, if it’s true love, a person will always “turn the car around”. It also sends the positive message that the only way anything can ever work out in a relationship is if each person is truly good alone. I absolutely love it.
City on Down
“Miracle, miracle sighted”
“Well, in the end my friend, we will all be together again”
This is a really nice surprise; just fun and lively. The vocals in this one feel a little reminiscent of the Dave Mathews Band, and I really, think it’s great. There’s a cool drum and guitar spotlight and breaks up the vocals nicely. And, the message in this one is wonderfully positive, about standing together as one.
Overall, just a great band, hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Great article Joie. I don’t care much for the band, but the article would encourage anyone to investigate them further.
I am more into Indie rock primarily, but I do freelance music journalism as well.
