This is my personal review of Farrah Abraham’s musical talents (or lack thereof…).
I must admit that every time I hear of a reality TV star or actor/actress that decides to make a music album, I get a little skeptical. In my opinion there have been so many EPIC celebrity musical career fails, such as Scarlett Johansson, Lindsay Lohan, Jennifer Lopez and of course Paris Hilton. Sometimes I wonder how these celebrities get the idea in their head that they can actually sing.
Farrah Abraham’s (16 and Pregnant, Teen Mom) musical talent is bad. I mean really really bad. Both songs “On My Own” and “Finally Getting Up From Rock Bottom” are auto-tuned immensely (from start to finish) to the point that you cannot understand most of the lyrics. Farrah’s voice is choppy and it seems like the lyrics are being spoken more than sung. Unfortunately, what few words you can make out do not make any sense. I am curious to hear what her true voice sounds like with no auto-tune.
I was unable to find a video for “Finally Getting Up From Rock Bottom” but I did manage to find the official video of “On My Own”. It is a home recording or low quality video of Baby Sophia being pushed on a swing and also running around the cemetery where her father Derek is buried. I would think with the money Farrah has made that she could definitely afford a much better video. It was really low budget and frankly, just looked cheap and lame. Even though Sophia is a cutie she still couldn’t save that video from failure!
The overall sound of both songs was terrible as well. The was no real chorus. There is no rhythm to the song and really no way to sing along with these songs. The music was lacking in sound and variety. It sounded hollow and empty with this robot voice talking gibberish and drowning out what little sound there was. In general the music seemed cheap and lame just like the video. It made me think of a couple middle school kids making a demo tape in their garage with crappy equipment bought from a Goodwill or second hand store.
Both songs are single releases off her album “My Teenage Dream Ended”. How this girl managed to get a record contract is seriously beyond me. I must agree with the 99% of people who think that Farrah should not quit her day job….which is….what?
Anyways, see for yourself. Both songs are available below.
