Music-the Good, The Bad, The Ugly

A brief descreption of music as I see it, and some great music suggestions.

Nowadays, there is a wide variety of music that is being listened to every day. But music today is much different than it used to be.

In my opinion, the music and bands from the mid and late 1900s were amazing. Highlights were: The Beatles, Bon Jovi, The Who, A-ha, Madonna, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, The Police, and the King of Pop whom we all know-Michael Jackson. That era of music was music with power, emotion, and rhythm. The music was consistently good and people practically worshipped the artists, like The Beatles. The way they were worshipped reminds me of a modern day artist named Justin Beiber who has millions of fans, mostly consisting of screaming girls, across North America. Heck, one of Justin Beiber’s music videos on YouTube, as of February 10th2011, has 458 MILLION VIEWS! This Justin Beiber craze was sometimes known as “beiber fever.” The Beatles also had as many adoring fans as Justin Beiber, of course not all teenage girls. The Beatles were extremely popular until The Beatles broke up and John Lennon got shot in front of his apartment – A tragedy.

On the other hand, music in my opinion has been getting worse and worse since the mid 1900s. Modern pop isn’t the best genre of music, in fact its one of the worst in my books. Modern pop is very repetitive, and usually doesn’t have much rhythm or emotion. There are three or four modern pop songs that I think are great, but the rest is really quite bad. But even though music has been getting worse and worse there are still a few amazing indie artists, indie meaning a group not associated with a major company that tends to be less known compared to modern pop singers. Great indie artists are Sarah Harmer, Regina Spektor, and Coconut Records.

So, all in all, music has been bad lately, but there are still some great artists out there. I hope you will take some of my music suggestions, and if you already are a fan, then you definately deserve some kudos!
