Do you know the band "John Butler Trio"? Perhaps, but take a look anyway.
Music is important to most of the people in our world. Music can help you get in a good mood, it can help you get happier and think about other thinks than the bad and sad things that may fill up your heard every day. It may also many you extremely sad or lost. Music can also help you remember good memories from when you were just a kid, when you were a teenager and tasted your first beer at a party, when you got your first kid and that special song was in the background or perhaps from when you and your sweetheart danced or spoke together the first time.
Music is everything to me. Music makes me sad. Music makes me happy. Music can help me focus and be serious about my work. But music can also make me wanna dance. To me, music is not just one thing. It’s a lot of things, and different music can do different of things to you. It depends on your taste and what you like. Some may like hard rock, metal or even death metal. Some might like funk, soul or jazz. Some might like music where singing is involved and some might like pure instrumental music.
I myself like a lot of different bands and genres. I listen to Italo Brothers, Avril Lavigne, Metallica, John Butler Trio, Owl City, Slipknot, Katy Perry, Timbaland, Coldplay, Daft Punk, Fall Out Boy, Jason Mraz, Hoobastank, Edward Maya, Jay-Z, The Fray, Tal Bach-man, Manfred Mann, Puddle of Mudd, Sum41 and a lot more. So there you see. My taste of music can’t be defined as one kind of group like “rock” or “pop”.

Anyway, approximately 2 and a half year ago my friends cousin came home from Australia. When he left our country he had very short hair, and no beard. When he got back, he had dreadlocks and a big beard, as I recall. Some weeks after his homecoming, I was at my friends house again and he told me that his cousin had brought some CD’s with him from Australia. We heard the music over and over again, and even though we were 16 years old and preferred music like Bowling for Soup, Sum 41, Metallica, Slipknot and stuff like that, we began to enjoy this new band. It was so different from anything we normally listened to. The band was named John Butler Trio. The song that was repeated over a hundred times was named Ocean. The thing with the leader of this band was, that he was spectacular on the 12-string guitar. He played the song Ocean, which was one of his own, like there were 3 guitarists playing at the same time. It was hard to believe that he did it all alone with such soul, volume and feel to it. I therefor recommend you to listen to this song. Fortunately it is uploaded to Youtube in two different versions. I prefer the one played at Max Sessions (first one) but both of the versions are very different and great. The thing with this song it that he always plays it in a different way.

Please tell me what you think of these songs. You might not like them at first, but try to listen to them some times or let the songs repeat in the background while you play games, do homework or something like that on the computer. I’m sure you’ll find the songs fantastic at some point.
If you’re interested in listening to some other good songs bu John Butler Trio, you can click on some of the following links. John Butler sings in these songs, so they’re a bit different. However, I like the instrumental (no singing) songs better, but these are still really great. Enjoy!
