There is no man who does not love music. It has got a great charm for us. Nothing can give one so much pleasure as music gives. Even a child is charmed when it hears music. It rouses various feelings and sentiments within us. It purifies the soul and gives us divine pleasure. When we hear a sweet music, we forget all our sorrows, anxieties and evil thoughts. When we hear a religious song, it fills our mind with a feeling of holiness. We are inspired when we hear patriotic songs. Such a song inspires patriotism within us. When the soldiers fight in the battlefield, music inspires them to fight bravely. They forget everything and sacrifice their lives for the country. A musician is thus a blessed man, the gift of the God. He makes himself as well as others happy and cheerful. He seems to be beyond the mortal touch. A brilliant musical composition has the capability to restore peace and calmness in our mind. Thus it is a great friend to us.

Some men are born musicians. They develop their power of music very easily. Again one can learn this art by culture also. Ancient Hindus and Greeks cultivated this art. They attached divine value to this divine gift. The ancient Greeks believed that Orpheus could make even stones dance to his music.

Music appeals to our heart. It is a medicine for the mind. We should all cultivate the art of music. Shakespeare says that we should not trust a man who does not love music.
