"You are all that I’ve waited for all of my life." (-Mat Kearney)
Whenever I wonder, will I find another artist I love as much as the last one I just fell in love with and sure enough another great song comes on the radio. This is exactly how I discovered Mat Kearney. =)
Hope you enjoy some of my favorite picks from him!
Closer to Love
“You pull me closer to love”
“We’re gonna there soon”
“If every building falls and all the stars fade we’ll still be singing this song the one they can’t take away”
“You are all that I’ve waited for all of my life”
Not only do I love this guy’s style, short sleeve button downs coupled with that signature hat, his voice takes me to heaven. It’s soft, genuine, a little raspy and so romantic. The lyrics to his songs remind me that love is still always possible, that love conquers all truly.
Nothing to Lose
“Here we go there’s nothing left to choose”
“Here we go there’s nothing left to lose”
I think one thing I’ve noticed as a common thread in Mat’s music is this emotion that makes me feel like no matter what happens, no matter what you go through in life, you’ll always come out better than ever before. This song, for example, makes you feel like something goods definitely coming your way, just hold on, no matter how rough things can get, you can “push the pedal down and watch the world fly by” you, in other words, you can always forget about all your problems; because truly, there’s nothing left to lose in life, except not risking.
Breathe in Breathe Out
“Tell me all of your doubts”
“Move on and break down”
“If everyone goes away, I’ll stay”
“Cuz there is a light in your eyes, in your eyes”
“Hold on, hold tight”
“Make it through another night”
For me, there’s typically at least one song from an artist that I don’t like, but so far, I’ve loved every song I’ve heard from Mat Kearney’s collection. They’re all dreamy, passionate and hopeful. They remind you to just let go. They let you sort of “float on the same cloud” he’s floating on for the length of his songs. He lightens the load in your heart and reminds you to keep looking at the sky, keep hoping for better things, keep dreaming, and keep remembering how beyond beautiful we all are. Love it.
