Mariah Carey Didn’t Hit a High Note at the Grammys

The Grammy Awards are like the Academy Awards of music. They honor the best musicians for their works in the recording industry… or do they?

The Grammys is the only awards show that brings musicians all over the world to join together and witness once-in-a lifetime performances and moments. Some of these moments would be: Beyonce` and Tina Turner in 2008 or The Jonas Brothers and Stevie Wonder in 2009. Some of the greatest musicians yet to have won a Grammy is Avril Lavigne, 50 Cent, and Diana Ross. A big shocker to me is that Mariah Carey didn’t win the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2006, even though The Emancipation of Mimi was the best-selling album of 2005 in the USA. Even though she won three Grammys in 2006, her wins weren’t telivised. It takes more than that to kill Mariah’s spirit though.

In 2008, she persevered once again when her single “Touch My Body” became her 18th #1 hit. That’s more than any other female artist and only second to The Beatles who have 20 #1 hits. Even though her latest album E=MC2 had the best-selling first-week sales of her career, she didn’t get any Grammy nominations in 2009. That’s not the way to honor one of the best musicians of all time.
