I already love this band, but I just discovered that this group consists of three brothers, Anthony Caleb Followill (lead vocals and guitar), Ivan Nathan Followill (drums and background vocals) and Michael Jared Followill (bass and background vocals) with Cameron Matthew Followill, their cousin, (lead guitar and background vocals) which makes their musical talents even more special to me.
I was flipping through the channels on my TV today and came across “Kings of Leon Live” and thought, I haven’t written about this amazing band yet. So, I thought why not now? =)
Check out some of my picks below!
(Please note: if you click the video and it doesn’t load, just click it twice and a YouTube window will open to play the song)
Use Somebody
“You know that I could use somebody… someone like you.”
The first time I heard this song, I was completely swept away by the overwhelming passion in Anthony’s voice. And, then the instrumental melody takes over and makes you feel like you’re floating amongst the clouds in heaven. Like you’re soaring through the sky, it’s absolutely magnificent. It’s a vulnerable outpouring of the heart and soul longing for love.
Notion
“Give me a sign”
“Don’t knock it ‘til you’ve been there before”
Can it get any better than this? A powerful musical intro lifts the spirit and gets you ready for the strong vocals. It makes you want to hear the next line, soar with the beat of the drum and sway to the next strum of the guitar. It makes you forget all your worries and melt into the passion and energy of the song. Love, love, love it!!
Red Morning Light
“You’re giving all your cinnamon away”
I like to find three picks from each artist I write about. I’d heard the other two songs before, so I had to sift through to see if I could find another song I wanted to share. Listened to “Charmer” and “On Call” for a minute, but wasn’t really into them. I choose this one because it has a very different vibe from the other two songs. Kind of makes me think of a blend of Elvis meets the Beatles. It’s got a grittier feel than their other songs, very cool, sound. This one makes you want to get up and dance. Glad I found it.
