Children following in the family footsteps of their famous singing parents.
Keep it in the family. A look at sons and daughters who follow the same singing career as their parents. They all have their own style for us to enjoy.
They span years of the musical calendar, they have different sounds and methods of getting their emotions across to us, they do have three things in common, they are parents, children and they love singing.
Meet Joe Brown, he was a British star in the ’60’s and is still touring today.
Now meet his daughter Sam Brown, she has her own style of music, very different from dear old dad.
Another father and daughter who had different styles were;
Marty Wilde a British star in the 50’s, he introduced a rock and roll style to his music.
Introducing his daughter, Kim Wilde, she was a hit in the 80’s and is now well known for her gardening skills.
A real ladies man was Julio Iglesias, a singer born in Madrid, while recovering from a dreadful accident that ruined a soccer career, he used music as therapy. This was the making of him, the ladies loved him, he crooned and they swayed.
His son followed in his father’s footsteps and became a heart breaker with his own style of romancing the ladies.
Not quite so romantic but equally as famous is Ozzie Osbourne, he sang with a group Black Sabbath and was a bit of a ‘bad’ boy.
His daughter, Kelly, followed his footsteps and created a style of her own.
The family has a reputation as a little ‘off the wall’ but this is a version of one of Ozzie’s old songs Changes, it was made after he nearly died following a quad bike accident. Father and daughter made it theirs and touched the hearts of many.
This father was taken from this world by a gunman, John Lennon was originally in the group The Beatles but broke away from the group. This is one of his most famous singles, it is certainly beautiful.
His son Julian Lennon, may look like his father but his style is very different, although on some of his work, you can hear his father’s voice come through.
Finally we have a famous mother, Judy Garland.
Sadly she decided the world was not for her, she did however leave us with her daughters:
and of course Liza Minnelli, this clip is a softer side of Liza, who normally wows us with her jazzy, punchy styles of Cabaret, All that Jazz and Money
Well there you have it, parents and their kids make music in their own way, solo or together.
Will anyone of them produce a third generation to keep the family business going?

A well thought out article again Glynis. I don’t know of Lorna Luft I will have to check her out.
Judy Garland was such a beautiful woman – Liza did’t get her mums looks but she can sing. Not a fan of Liza really. All that hoo-har about her marriage to David whatsisface. Strange.

It is an okay article and intro to these children who are also artists. It would have been even better is you had included a little more information on each person and not jus the clips. Although I did like watching them
Happy Writing

The kids are much different from the parent.I have to say I liked the parents. They were talented but I’m not sure about the kids. I think they are riding on the parents coattails. You did a great job putting it all together.

A very enjoyable article. I’ve always thought that Julio Iglesias’ voice was really sexy, while his son unsuccessfully tried too hard to be just that.
