Joshua Armstrong – Six Pieces of Music

An article about musician Joshua Armstrong, discussing his latest project.

Former Californian Joshua Armstrong now lives in Nashville, Tennessee and has recently added production work to his performance talents. His latest project is now half completed, with three of the six planned releases already out there for you to hear. His aim being to release a single online song each month for six months, leaving us three tracks yet to hear.

Joshua’s first single ‘Forever Over You’ gives you a taste of his poppy side with music reminiscent of the early 90’s. The overall musical effect is of an early Richard Marx with the vox having a softer, younger and smoother feel.

Joshua’s second release ‘Stepping Stone’ brings out the salving ballad-style side to his vocals. ‘This song is one of my best songs to date.’ Joshua claims, ‘I wrote this song on new years eve of 2009 right before I left to meet my friends at a party to watch the ball drop. I remember driving home in the rain and came home to an empty house. I could see this song being played at my funeral someday.’

Joshua’s latest release came in July and is named ‘Miss You Wanting Me’. My personal opinion is that this song really brings out the best in Joshua’s voice. ‘Instead of trying to sing perfect I decided to try and sing emotional and as if I was in the moment with the lyrics.’ Joshua states, ‘I think people care more about how the song makes them feel, lyrics and all. I will never be the best singer out there, but hopefully my voice can at least sell the heart behind the song.’ When Joshua first played the song in front of another person, they cried.

It is almost August, meaning the next sample of Joshua’s talent is due to surface shortly. You can hear the first three tracks and find out when the fourth is coming at Joshua’s website – joshuaarmstrong.net
