Why Jack Johnson’s music is so appealing to people.
For those who enjoy the laid back Hawaii influenced tunes of Jack Johnson, I am sure you are just like me; you are always waiting for a new Jack song or CD. It as if I cannot get enough of his simple melodies, I cant explain why, but his music just feels good. If you are an avid listener you realize how popular Jack Johnson really is, even though he truly is not main stream. Unfortunatley for me and any other listener Jack Johnson does not make a new CD every year. He has about 5 or 6 CD’s out to this date and all have sold over a million copies world wide. I personally believe that because he does not make a CD every year it almost makes his music more appealing to people. It as if that it is so rare for him to make a CD that when he does it is highly anticipated and instantly becomes a favorite by many. Maybe his music really is just that appealing, maybe his simple tones are what people need in their lifes. But sometime too much of a good thing can be bad, so maybe too much Jack could turn listeners off, but who knows.
When people look at the life Jack Johnson lives many see it as the “ideal” life. He lives in Hawaii, he surfs, and he plays music, does it get any better? And he is nothing out of the ordinary of a normal down to earth person. Although he is a rock star by title he does not live the rock star life. He has a wife and kids and he plays a show then goes backstage to hang out with his friends and family. I think all of this simple living combine with a rock star life makes for an appealing artist. His music matches how he lives so people see him and think of him as an idol because he is able to avoid materialistic problems that most famous people fall into. He is true with his music, he lives what he speaks, and he makes good music. On top of it all he has attached him self to a meaning and a movement. He has associated his music with the green revolution and by doing so affects people everyday and influences them through his music.
Overalll Jack Johnson makes great music and is a great person, and for both of these things he has gained a large fan base and people love his music and always want more. I hope we will soon see another CD from Jack Johnson to follow up his Sleep Through the Static album and I have no doubt that it would be a great CD.
