Hillsong: Still, From The Inside Out

Some wonderful songs from Hillsong.

Hillsong music has brought so much inspiration to me in my life journeys.  Their songs speak the music in my heart.  A lot of their songs are upbeat and when you’re in the mood, you can even sway or dance to it.  Being more of an instrumentalist rather than a singer, what catches my attention first is how the various instruments play together.  But engaging beats and sounds would be nothing if the message of the song is all nonsense.  From a personal perspective, Hillsong has that distinctive combination of both, uplifting melody and inspiring message.

“From the Inside Out”

This is my kind of slow rock. Listen to the guitar intro of this song.  It kind of gives you a chill out feeling, cool and simple, just flowing nicely.   These are my favorite lines from the song:

“Your will above all else, my purpose remains
The art of losing myself in bringing you praise

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame

Let justice and praise become my embrace
To love You from the inside out”

They say that the highest form of worship or praise is obedience.  In obedience, we set aside what we want if it is not in line with His purposes in our lives.   It’s a concept that is not easy to grasp but is something that I am working on, because to me, the ultimate purpose of my life lies in the One who made me in the first place.  And it is my desire to put His will above all else and give Him praise from the inside out.

“Still”

This song is something that is very close to the heart.  It’s a comfort song for me, one that I sing to myself when I am having difficulties, trials, and overwhelming problems.  It’s easy to panic sometimes when times are tough.  But I have learned to stay still, have peace amidst the storms of life.  Psalm 46:10 says ” Be still and know that I am God.”  Knowing I have a God who is bigger than my problems gives me peace, the kind that transcends all understanding.

“When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father you are king over the flood
I will be still and know you are God”
