Highest Paid Musicians in 2009

1. Madonna – $110 million

With her 2008 Tour Sticky and Sweet became the highest grossing tour by a solo artist which helped her becoming the only musicians to make over 100 million in 2008.  She has the most top 10 hits in the history of the billboard top 100 and in 2008 was inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame.

2.  Beyonce Knowles – $87 million

Due to the release of her newest album I Am … Shasha Fierce on November 18th 2008 and her I Am …. Tour which has already grossed over 37 million dollars Beyonce has raked in over 87 million dollars.  She also starred in the movie Obsessed which grossed over 11 million dollars on its opening day.

3.  Coldplay – $70 million

Coldplay had a huge it on its hands when it released the single Viva La Vida which became the bands first number 1 hit.  The song also helped their album Sales of Viva La Vida and Death To All His Friends which is there best selling album.  There Viva La Vida Tour has been a success selling out some of the world largest venues.

4.  Bruce Springsteen – $70 million

Bruce Springsteen also known as the Boss released his newest album On January 27, 2009 and it already sold 1.5 million copies.  He played at this year’s Super bowl and his current tour tour Working on Dream Tour just kicked off in April.

5.  Kenny Chesney – $65 million

Kenny Chesney just kicked off kicked off his Sun City Carnival Tour which if its anything as successful as his Poets and Pirates tour is sure to make him millions.  In in 2008 he won the ACM Entertainer of the year award which he can add to the three others he won.

6.  Rascal Flatts – $60 million

Rascal Flats are one of the most successful touring country groups.  On there 2007 tour they grossed over 34 million dollars selling over 588,000 tickets.  They just released their new album Unstoppable on April 7th, 2009 and they kicked off there American Living Unstoppable Tour 2009.

7.  AC/DC – $60 million

AC DC released thier album Black Ice in October 2008.  They are currently on their Black Ice Tour which kicked off on October 28th 2008.  Since Neilson SoundScan began tracking music sales in 1991 AC/DC have sold over 26.4 million albums.

8.  Toby Keith – $52 million

Toby Keith released his album That Don’t Make Me a Bad Guy on October 28th 2008 and he is currently touring with trace Atkins on the America’s Toughest Tour.  Don’t expect him to slow down anytime soon his new album American ride is expected later this year.

9.  Bon Jovi – $50 million

Bon Jovi last album Lost Highway has sold over 1.2 million copies and his Lost Highway Tour 2008 was a massive success grossing over 70 million dollars.  His new album The Circle is scheduled to be released November 10th 2009.

10. Brittney Spears – $35 million

Britney Spears new album Circus has been a huge success, her single womanizer has became her most successful single ever selling over 2.7 million digital downloads.  She is currently on her sixth tour known as The Circus Tour grossing over 74.6 million in its first 48 shows making it the most successful in 2009.
