The plot-line is a sham, there’s pointless character twists, and the story itself is crud.
High School Musical 1 and 2 are known world-wide various reasons. This is because they followed an actual plot-line and there weren’t any pointless character twists. However, that ended with High School Musical Three. I don’t know if he did or not…but I seriously doubt Simon Cowell would have anything good to say about this movie.
As always, the songs and cast fit perfectly with eachother. However, the pointless character twists were a major turn off to many movie-goers. Here are the two best examples:
1. Ryan asks Kelsea out to prom. This is because in the beginning of the movie, Sharpey wants him to get close to Kelsea and get the song meant for Gabrieilla. However, later, Sharpey gets Gabriella’s part and thus it wouldn’t have mattered if he did or not; she would’ve gotten the song anyway.
2. The British girl turns out to be a jerk. There’s no real point to this. It serves no point in the movie whatsoever. I mean, think about it, Sharpey would’ve gone onstage whether or not the British girl was there. Having the two perform together for all of 20 seconds does not affect the movie or plot line in anyway. Especially since you see Sharpey sing that part with her brother in the beginning of the movie anyway.
In High School Musical 3, Troy Bolton has a decision to make. Basketball or Drama? There in lie his ties to College, his best friend, and his girlfriend. But the plot line the main character follows has almost nothing to do with the actual story; he has a decision to mak…he picks. The end. Two hours worth of him worrying over something that’s that simple to answer while wooing his girlfriend. Gabriella’s plot line is no different in the fact that it’s simplistic. She already chose a college and is coping with her decision.
Kelsea, whom should have a bigger part in the movie, is almost completely ignored throughout. Her name is mostly mentioned instead of actually seen. Off of the top of my head, I can only think of 3 scenes with her not being in two big a crowd and only one seen in which she’s almost completely on her own. Yeah, let’s not give attention to the person who wins the Juliard Scholarship. Like that isn’t important.
There are probably hundreds more things wrong with this movie as a whole. However, I don’t have the time to criticize every little mistake in the movie.
On the bright side, the music in it sounds good.
