Sungha Jung can play the guitar better than the professional guitarist. Can play guitar techniques that even professionals can not do even with years of playing.
Sungha Jung was born September 26, 1996 in South Korea. He dreamt of becoming a professional acoustic finger-style guitarist. He used to watch his father who plays guitar as his hobby until he decided he wants to play like him too. A solo guitarist and a guitar teacher from Germany named Ulli Bögershausen became his musical inspiration.
He started playing the guitar in early 2006. He started by listening to songs from radio or Internet. He then plays them without any tabbing. He is very good at listening that when he got the song right, his father would then video tape him, then they would post it in YouTube. He never had any guitar teacher. He only taught himself and sometimes his father teaches him as well. With much practice, Sungha was able to improve his playing styles. Many people who saw the video gets amazed at how his fingers proceed so quickly and gently in the guitar. He plays beautifully that even the professional guitarist are amazed. Famous guitarist soon began giving him free tablatures of different songs in their own arrangements. He learned them all and soon enough he became famous on YouTube.
Currently, he is also learning to play drums and continues to explore other guitar playing styles. His guitar was custom made to fit his body size by Selma. It also has a message from Thomas Leeb, who is a finger-style guitarist from Austria. Thomas wrote, “Keep grooving”. In 2007, Sungha studied the classical guitar and practices everyday for two hours.
He composed five songs and one of them is the “Voyages with Ulli”. That piece was dedicated to Ulli Bögershausen thanking him for being his inspiration and for his friendship. He also played “Canon” with Tracy Bundy. Tracy is an instrumental acoustic guitar player. He also composed a song for Thomas Leeb and he entitled it “Missing You”. Some famous songs were also played, One is with Tomi Paldanius, also a finger guitarist. They played together Bon Jovi’s “Living on a Prayer”.
He is believed to be a guitar prodigy because of his young age and his ability to play the guitar. He has not released a CD yet and he can only be heard through YouTube. Lakewood is his current sponsor. To know more about Sungha you can visit his website. Most of the song that is posted in YouTube are on his website as well. If you would like to know what he is into currently, you can also follow him through twitter and his account name is twitter account. Some of his music that I really loved is the Moon River, Pirate of the Caribbean, Hit the road Jack, Mission Impossible, and Alone again naturally.
