ITunes puts up one single and one music video a week for a free download. This is a great way to add some character and spice to your playlists and who knows, maybe one of these songs will become your very favorite.
Some of you may not be aware, but iTunes sports one single every week for its Free Single of the Week category. The song is never by a big named artist but by a lesser known and possibly up-and-coming one.
This category on iTunes is very easy to find. Just open up your iTunes, go to iTunes store, and at about the middle of the page there is a box with a yellow tab saying “Free Single of the Week.”

The genre’s of the song’s vary every week for instance one week it may be an up and coming rapper who can throw down a mean beat and the next it may be a nice and slow country song. iTunes does a great job of mixing it up and keeping it fresh in this category. Who knows maybe this free download will give you 2-3 minutes of pure bliss, but it could also be an instant “delete.” From my experience in getting these free songs I can tell you that no matter what week it is or what the song is I have never been disappointed. Every song that I have downloaded has been unlike any other I’ve heard before.
Also, below the Free Single of the Week box there will be another with the same tab but it reads “Free Music Video of the Week.” Now I’m not promising anything with these videos, they range in a very wide variety of songs. Some may make you happy or sad and some may make you feel like no song has ever done before. Regardless of the new artist that iTunes chooses to support their video, it’s a good deal with the free download and if worse comes to worse and you don’t like the video, just delete it, it was free.
So next time your surfing on iTunes for your next “favorite” song, I highly suggest you to check out this section and maybe you’ll find a song you really like. And even if you don’t find the instant free hit you were hoping for, who cares, go back next week, there may be a much better one.
