Music, it’s a magical art form that’s universally and timelessly loved. And because of this overwhelming love of music, it has become an integral part of everyday life. So much so, that thankfully, one cannot visit a grocery store, an elevator, watch a TV show, movie, or a wide variety of others venues without hearing a familiar beloved song.
Throughout time, millions upon millions of songs have been created and are in constant creation as we speak. And, I’m certain that if asked right now, most people can name off the top of their heads, a significant list of favorite tunes. But, I’ve often wondered, how many people can actually name their absolute number one favorite song of all time? Personally, I don’t know if I can, but what I can do is share a very short list of some songs that I love. If you haven’t heard them before I hope they become a pleasant new love in your life!
Enjoy!
I first heard this song watching the movie “Wicker Park”. I don’t know which I love more the movie or this song. But, coupled together, the combination makes for a perfect romantically, aching, timeless love story duo.
I often play this song over and over when I’m thinking about potentially starting a relationship with someone. It helps remind me that you must always be careful and tread with an open, yet wise heart toward any potential new love situation. It reminds me how hard getting over someone can be with its passionate and beautiful lyrics and melody.
Not only is Chris Carrabba absolutely gorgeous, his voice is filled with passionate, romantic beauty skillfully enabling him the ability to sweep lovers away in blissful visions of happily ever after.
This song is from the movie “Once” a love story that was quite unique in that most of the scenes consisted of songs, though, I do not think it was classified in the musical genre.
And last, but definitely not least, nor the end of my countless list of favorite songs:
I thought I’d add this song in because I happen to be friends with the singer, Paul Van. I’ve known him for about 10 years. I actually knew Heath Cooley, who was the former drummer for the band and through Heath, I met Paul. Paul has sung with top performers like Depeche Mode before joining this band. And, about a year ago, Solarcade opened for the Killers. From the very moment I first heard this song, I was enamored by the group’s incredible talent. I hope you enjoy it too!

I don’t usually listen to pop songs but I made an exception for you! Rather sad songs I thought, but then love is sad until we find ‘the one’ and it’s mutual…

As a musician, I appreciate this article, Liane. Good songs. And it’s funny that you mentioned Depeche Mode; I learned how to play some of their stuff on the guitar years ago.
