Fireflies : An Acapella Version

A cover of Owl City’s "Fireflies"

When I first heard “Fireflies” by Owl City, the melody caught my attention.  I like its relaxed sound and tempo.  It’s not the kind that will make you fall asleep though.  It’s more of a slow rock, one that makes me sway, sing along,  or beat my hands on the table as if I’m playing with imaginary drums.  I just like its chill out sound.  The lyrics of the song doesn’t really convey a deep message.  It’s more of like a play with words.  But who knows?  It depends on your perspective.  It may have deeper meanings after all.  As for me I just simply enjoy it.

I found a cover of the song, an acapella version done by Delfin Lazaro of the Fil-Am group Legaci.  This R&B band is based in San Francisco Bay, California and they do back-up singing for Justin Bieber.   I have to give credit to iamsuperfox for introducing me to the group.

I just find this one man acapella version really amusing.  You should see his pop-up comment on the video (time – 1:31) where he was playing an air guitar.  Is there such a thing?  Anyway, he’s quite a talent!

When you really love something, in this case, music and singing, there are limitless ways of expressing it.  Passion for something brings forth one’s creativity and ingenuity.   What I like about this is he’s simply having a grand time doing this.  And I am very much delighted listening to his wonderful voice and unique rendition.
