Djs Then and Djs Now

How a Dj and his Dj Tools have change during the years.

Years ago, Djs would prepare and practice with their vinyl records and turntables the mixes they would play for the crowd.  Back and forth with his hands on the vinyl he would create the sound known as the scratch. Making his mixing set sound different from the rest of the Djs scratching and beat mixing his records. What they call now a remix.  Remixing a song to make it sound different and original at the same time.  The crowd would go wild pumping their hands up synchronizing with the Dj’s mix. Rocking the house with his turntables and record vinyl.  The Dj would have an arsenal of different genres of music.  He had to keep up with radio airplay music and as well underground music favorites among the streets.

Favorite of the tools of the street djs or even club Djs are Technics 1200 turntables. These are very professional turntables Djs preferred for mixing and scratching.  These turntables are direct drive with pitch control on the side. What the pitch control does is adjust the speed of the vinyl record spinning on the turntable. Basically a Dj´s tool is 2 Turntables and a mixer to mix 2 records together. Creating both records mix and synchronize with each other. This is where the pitch control comes in. To synchronize both vinyl record together making a perfect mix. Some Djs use the Technics 1200 also because these are best for Dj scratching.

Nowadays Dj mixing has change from a couple years ago. Today a Dj doesn´t have to carry that much of heavy equipment.  Before a Dj had to carry the slightly heavy Technics 1200 and a whole bunch of vinyl record crates. This has change in these couple of years with the technology rapid changing. The Technics turntables have change to CD Turntables which are less heavy and compact.  The vinyl records also change to less compact Cds.  Some Djs go as far as Djing any party or event with more advance technology such as a laptop and a Dj software.

As years go by and technology is always evolving the art of mixing for a Dj is rapidly changing. Nowadays Djs have to keep up with the times and trends. Who know in the years to come what Dj tools Djs are going to use to make the party people dance. We just have to wait and see.

lame. article thrown together so they could have advertising all around it.
not even current information – and only the the purists are sticking with crates of vinyl to haul around. everyone is going digital. even if they use timecodes.
