City and Colour is a solo career by rocker Dallas Green. They play all acoustic rock music.
Most Canadian rock/metal fans know of the great live show band Alexisonfire. The lead singer/guitar player Dallas Green has spent many years with them, rising them up from the ashes of what was rock music. He still plays for his band Alexisonfire, but now he decided to switch up a change from his heavy rock music to a softer rock acoustic solo career he likes to call City and Colour.

Dallas Green is City and Colour, a acoustic, soft rock solo career that brings folk vibes into rock. Dallas Green named his solo career City and Colour because “Dallas” is a city, and “green” is a colour. He did this because he felt uneasy putting Dallas Green on an album.
Green states that as a child, he had written music, starting from age 13, and much of the music on his debut album “Sometimes” were revised songs from his childhood as well as any other material he wrote since he started up until 2005. Before he compiled his CD “Sometimes”, Green had released his songs onto the internet for free downloading. When he realized this potential, he rewrote and revised most of his work to put it onto the debut CD. Dallas Green stated in an interview that the music he prefers is sad music, influencing the majority of the songs he wrote. Green also stated, on the album that ”a lot of those songs are written on some of the experiences I’ve been through and stuff and that’s just how I deal with it. I just write songs when I’m bummed out and I feel happier.”
The followup album “Bring Me Your Love” is much more folky consisting of many other instruments like banjos, harmonicas, drums and lap steels. He also had a couple collaborations with other musicians, such as the famous Gordon Downie of the Tragically Hip and Matt Sullivan of Attack in Black. Green confessed to this album being the hardest lyrically, and he got his inspired album name from a novel by Charles Bukowski, which he found while on tour with Alexisonfire in a bookstore.
City and Colour is still fairly new to people’s ears with Dallas Green, slowly becoming an international success. He is working his way through the music industry becoming known for not only Alexisonfire, but his solo career now as well. He is one of the most influential artists in the industry now, being both modest and friendly to fans and press. And as he goes through the industry, Canada and the world see him for who he is; a born artist.
