Okay, so there are many bands out there. Like Nickleback, The Fray, etc. But some of them sound exactly the same, and everyone loves them. Which is a good thing, but what about the bands that have a different sound from the norm?
Okay, so there are many different bands out there. Plus, they all have a slightly different sound, except it’s all very similar. Here are some band with a different and unique sound. These bands are some of my favorites.

When it comes to Flogging Molly, the saying, ‘you can’t judge a book by it’s cover’ usually comes to mind. I mean, if you dissect their name it means whipping Molly, yikes!! Trust the band has nothing to do with whips. This band has traditional Celtic instruments, the fiddle, accordion, penny whistle etc., and it has traditional rock instruments like the guitar, drums, and bass guitar. All in all there are a total of seven members in the band, lead singer/ acoustic guitar/bodhran/ spoons player Dave King, fiddle/ tin whistle/ uillean pipes/ and vocals player Bridget Regan, vocals and guitar player Dennis Casey, accordion and concertina player Matt Hensley, vocals and bass guitar player Nathen Maxwell, mandolin and banjo player Bob Schmidt, and percussion player George Schwindt.
This band has a unique sound because of the different instruments than regular American rock bands. But their energy, even in their Cd’s is astounding. You know that they are playing music from their heart and not for the money. Flogging Molly is a touring band other than a band who is constantly making new albums and staying at the recording studio. They like to be around their fans. This band is from a wide range of ages, from 20s- 40s, giving them the not- your- typical- cool- band. The song above is from from their new album “Float“, the song is entitled “Float.” It’s their first music video off their new album. If you enjoy this song is you’ll most likely enjoy the rest of this album. I know I do!

Paramore. A band with catchy lyrics and a great sound. They have tons of energy and they sing about something besides sex. Kind of like Flogging Molly. Their lead singer, Haley, Josh Farro as lead guitar, Zac Farro on Drums, and Jeremy Davis on Bass. This started up when all the band members were in high school. Their debut album is All we Know is Falling had songs such as All we Know” on it. In 2007 their recent Cd had been recorded, Riot.
Paramore has been featured in the Twilight with their songs Decode and I Caught Myself can be found on the Twilight Soundtrack and in the movie- of course. Paramore is currently working to write and record their third album. I do not know their name, but I am very excited to listen to it!! The album is said to debut in September 2009. The song above is from their album, Riot, it is called, Crush, Crush, Crush enjoy!

Fresh, is the first word I can come up with while listening to Making April. The piano is so different, it’s light and exccentuated by the lyrics and other sounds the band makes. This band is fairly new and unheard of, even though their first album has been out since 2005. It is still fairly underground. Their name Making April came from trying to get their songs onto Myspce and Pure Volume by April, so they figured out that they were ‘making April.’ Kind of a unique way to come up with a name, right?
Their debut Cd was Runaway World that was debuted in 2005. My favorite song off that album was Roses and Butterflies, in the song you can literally feel, Sean Scanlon (vocals, piano, and gut-air) emotion as he sings the song. Then there is Gregory Federspiel who plays bass guitar and Steven McCaffrey who plays lead guitar and back up vocals. The band has a new Cd, called The Egg Hunt that has debuted on March 3, 2009 only on available on Itunes and Smart Punk. Unfortunately, I don’t have either Itunes or Smart Punk, so I will not be able to buy their new album, but on their Myspace it sounds pretty good. The song above is their Roses and Butterflies from their old album, Runaway World. I wish this band the best of luck for their future! They’re music is very unique!

The Fray. I know most people have heard of them. From their last album’s hits, How to Save a Life, and Over my Head (Cable Car) were their biggest hits. Actually, just yesterday I heard How to Save a Life on my car radio, meaning that even though they still have a new album, their old songs are still good as well as the new ones. Their old album was entitled, How to Save a Life was debuted in 2005 was their album that put them on the mainstream for music lovers. In February 2009 they debuted their new album, The Fray that I believe has had instant success. I mean, I can’t go a day with out hearing, You Found Me,on the radio. It’s a great song, and since I bought their new album I really can’t put it down. The voice of the lead singer/ piano player Isaac Slade has a certain quality to it not many people have. Other band members, Joe King who plays guitar and vocals, Dave Welsh guitar, and Ben Wysocki on Drums. The video above is of their new song, Never Say Never. A wonderful song with a great meaning behind it!
