Remy Martin should start up their own record company, and get out of the music business …
Just how many music videos has Remy Martin made an appearance in? I’ve grown tired of all of the product placement in music videos these days. I was offended when I saw Remy Martin in Jill Scott’s video for Blessed. There’s nothing positive about drinking Remy Martin; a positive, conscious artist has no business promoting that garbage in her videos.
If the cognac companies have taken over the funding for music videos, which are themselves mere advertisements for albums, and not the actual product, perhaps I should stop watching music videos. Perhaps we should all stop watching music videos. I mean what is the point? Those of us that are going to drink Remy Martin already have our minds made up.
When Remy Martin sponsors a music video like Blessed, the entire message behind that video, and the song itself is compromised. Jill Scott promotes Black love, but has no problem getting in bed with a cognac company, which is hypocritical. Not that Jill is the only hypocritical conscious artist; Erykah Badu’s controversy about getting naked in a video was only followed up by her controversial appearance in a Flaming Lips video with her sister, only to be followed up by a song with Lil’ Wayne.
Record companies can no longer afford to put out music videos? I knew that artists eventually paid back the record companies for those videos, but this is ridiculous
