New music…
They tell us the same thing every year. This is (and they mean it this time) the most talented final 12 Idol has ever had. Most years, of course, that wasn’t the case. Season 8, however, was the real deal. Adam Lambert is going to be a star of Michael Jackson-esque proportions in the very near future. Alison Iraheta is going to be right on his heels. Kris Allen is poised to woo millions of willing girls for years to come, and Danny Gokey is set to invade a number of genres.
Here is a look at some of the songs upcoming from the Idol finalists’ debut albums. Enjoy.
For Your Entertainment
You can tell from the opening that this is going to be a monster. Every bit the combination of glam, pop, and dance we could have hoped for.
Whataya want from me
The voice that melted every woman in America between the age of 10 and 80 is in full effect here.
From the half dozen or so songs available, it’s obvious that Lambert’s album is heavy on 80’s pop influence, right down to the synthesizers. Safe bet this album won’t disappoint anyone. ‘The next big thing’ is such a cliche, but hi is that in spades.
Friday I’ll be over you
I wasn’t sure how that gravelly Joplin voice of hers would translate over to pop radio, but the translation was flawless.
Take It Or Leave It
Nice to see they didn’t wash the blues out of her voice the way they did with Bo Bice.
I think people are going to be surprised by just how big she gets, and how fast. There was a void left when Avril Lavigne grew up and became just another pop bimbo; the mildly rebellious semi rock chick. Girls in that 10-19 age bracket will worship her, and that bluesy voice will appeal to the older crowd. This kid is going to be around for a long time.
Live Like We’re Dying
This song is exactly what people both expected and wanted. His core audience will be delighted.
Just like on Idol, there are no secrets or surprises with Kris Allen. You get what you pay for. He won’t be huge on the scale of the previous two, but get used to his voice. You’ll be hearing it for a long time.
It’s Only…. Love
An absolutely beautiful song, but not destined to be a huge hit with younger listeners.
Danny is, like Clay Aiken before him, going to sell more that his share of music, but he won’t fall to the ringtone crowd. Adult contemporary will be playing him for decades.

Hi. About Kris Allen’s song, if he’s going to cover a song (it’s originally from The Script) and release it as a single, he could’ve at least put his personal, unique touch to it. It’s because this sounds exactly like the original – vocally and all! It’s almost funny but sad at the same time.
