All About Love

I could name 16 songs with the word “love” on the title.

Love makes the world go around so goes the age-old saying, so does the music industry I suppose. Take a look at these songs of love I have collected through the years and tell me if you like them in the end.

Love Me Tender – Elvis Presley (1956)

This song was part of an Elvis Presley 1956 album with the same title based on a movie bearing the same title for which this song was recorded. This was one of those eternal love classics which haven’t died with the passing of the famous “King of Rock and Roll” in 1977.

Love Story (Where Do I Begin?) – Andy Williams (1970)

This song was originally a theme song for the movie of the same title released in 1970 which starred Ryan O’Neal and Ali McGraw. I suppose everyone older than 40 could bring back memories listening to this song.

Love Hurts – Nazareth (1975)

This song was first recorded by the Everly Brothers in 1960 and was revived by Nazareth in 1975 which eventually became a hit and had been associated with Nazareth from then on.

Love Attack – Ferrara (1979)

This was a disco music I had been familiar with 30 years ago. All the while the title and the rhythm of this music is unique in its own right there’s not much lyrics but you will be mesmerized all the way through the length of the song.

After the Love has Gone – Earth, Wind and Fire (1979)

Released in 1979 on Earth, Wind and Fire’s album with the same title, it reached #2 on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart (Wikipedia).

Love Me – Michael Cretu (1979)

This song was included in Michael’s 1979 solo album “Moon, Light and Flowers” for which the popular song  “Moonlight Flower” was also included. Reminiscent of the memories of the early 80’s I suppose those who were born before this song was released could relate.

Woman in Love – Barbra Streisand (1980)

Barbra Streisand was at her best singing prowess capturing the spirit of this song to express a woman’s weakness over man’s supremacy. But who’s fooling who? Included in Barbra’s album “Guilty” it was originally written by the Bee Gees (Wikipedia).

Love – Billy Preston and Syreeta Wright (1981)

What more about love than a song titled “Love” itself? This song was a result of a collaboration of Billy Preston with another singer Syreeta Wright in 1981 which resulted in an album.

Endless Love – Lionel Ritchie and Diana Ross (1981)

This song was originally a duet between Diana Ross and Lionel Ritchie, the latter who wrote the song. This was also the title of a 1981 movie which featured the song as a theme which featured the famous Hollywood stars in their teens namely, Brooke Shields, Martin Hewitt and Tom Cruise.

Victims of Love – Joe Lamont (1985)

This song was released in 1985 and was one of those rock ballads I have encountered in my heydays giving me sweet (and sour) memories. Perhaps this was the only song which Joe Lamont have made quite a recognition for during his career.

Tender Love – Force MDs (1985)

This song was among the movie “Krush Groove” soundtrack lists of songs and included in Force MDs second album “Chillin” released in 1985.

Your Love – Outfield (1986)

A song included in Outfield’s  album titled ”Play Deep” basically touches the story of a man’s affair with another woman, this song made it to #6 on Billboard’s Hot 100 list in 1986 (wikipedia)

All the Love in the World – The Corrs (2000)

This song had been preferred by most singers and bands having the earliest title version composed and sang by the Bee Gees and revived by Dione Warwick, Outfield also had their own version of different lyrics released in 1985. In 2000, included in their album “In Blue” The Corrs performed this song on their own version and lyrics with the spirit.

Where is the Love – Black Eyed Peas (2003)

The Black Eyed Peas rose to fame and this song just captured the lyrics exemplifying them from the rest. Part of the album “Elephunk” this song was the band’s first top 100 hit (Wikipedia).

You Got the Love – Florence and the Machine (2009)

This song was performed in 1991 by the band “The Source” featuring Candi Staton but lately revived by the English group Florence and the Machine and released it in a recording in November 2009 (Wikipedia).
