30 Second Biased Insight on Culture

Pick a couple topics like “Images of homosexuals in the media” and ask me to state where I stand in 30 seconds or less and this is what you get.

Violent movies
I think they are great. I think I want to go out and kill someone right after watching one… not. If you don’t like them then beat it. Some one that does violent acts is insane and the friggin movie hasn’t made them insane, they are already insane. If it’s not the movie then it’s going to be something else that makes these insane people let you know they are insane. Leave my friggin movie alone, go check out the parents of the insane person and blame it on them.

Images of homosexuals in the media
This stuff makes my skin crawl. Sorry, but it does. I don’t like it, but so what. If I don’t like it when I see them, then I can only imagine how they feel when they see me. So, either can it all or tuff luck. Showing this stuff in the media will probably eventually sensitize me to it and probably make my outlook towards it head in the right direction instead of the wrong direction which all our immediate forefathers have been leading us. There is a difference between peace and harmony on Earth and assimilation.

Alcohol or cigarette advertising
My first gut feeling is this is good …but only if it is a start or the end of it for that matter. I find this discriminating. What about cars, fast foods, foods high in saturated fat or high levels of sodium or cholesterol such as some chocolate candy bars.

Public radio/public television
I think this is good but it’s all propaganda in the first place instigated by people who don’t even know that they are propagandadizating ( ß I made that word up :D ). Irrelevant of my previous statement, I don’t listen or watch the stuff.

Celebrity gossip and paparazzi

I don’t get this. I get the people who are paparazzi and gossip folks, there is a big market in this stuff, but the question to me is why?  I feel many people have low self-esteem and have no hopes of every attaining their somewhat lofty media-influenced goals in life.

Illegal music downloading
This is wrong, no doubt about. I know this and I download them all the time, in the thousands. Why, because they are everywhere and begging me to download them.  They are usually ladened with adware and government hacks bound in them. I just convert them to mp3s and I am good. If I kept keeping my front door open and kept getting ripped off, the judge after a while is going to get nasty with me. It’s the 21st century and business models, IE: recorded media are going to fall apart unless THEY incorporate a method of protecting their profits and products from pirates or change where they make their money. The could let the music be free, and capitalize on concerts, video, any tv appearance royalties.
