10 Worst Cover Songs Ever Made

Many singers do wonderful song remakes. Some of my favorite songs are remakes of older songs. A few singers had made some terrible cover songs. Sometimes the singer will tackle a song that just doesn’t fit their vocal range. Their managers should tell them to stay away from certain songs. Here are 10 cover songs that were big mistakes.

Celine Dion

You Shook Me All Night Long

Celine Dion has a good voice but she should stick to what she does best. No one buys the fact that she can be a rocker. Go back to sinking ships.

Dolly Parton

Crimson & Clover

Some singers have a good voice but they pick the wrong songs. This is a perfect example. Dolly’s voice just doesn’t fit this song. Somebody should have been honest with her when she recorded this.

Tom Jones

Kiss

The legendary crooner seems like a fish out of water on this song. Stay away from Prince songs. They are just too quirky.

I Love Rock And Roll

Britney Spears

I will never believe that Brittney Spears loves rock and roll. Her version is transparent and fluffy. The exact opposite of what this song should be.

Pat Boone

Stairway To Heaven

The album cover says it all. Pat Boone may be inserting a little tongue in cheek but this is embarrassing. Don’t touch the classics.

Paul Anka

Eyes Without A Face

Although this is not the worst cover I’ve heard, I still can’t approve of anyone besides Billy Idol doing this. The amazing part is that he also did “Smells Like Teen Spirit” on the same album. We can only hope that he stays away from gangsta rap.

Madonna

American Pie

This also falls under the category of “don’t touch the classics”. Apparently she doesn’t realize how many people laughed when they heard this.

Jim Carrey

I Am The Walrus

Jim Carrey actually has a decent voice and has made decent covers in the past. He apparently thinks that just because this is a bizarre song, he can sink to his usual state of buffoonery. Listen to the Oasis version instead.

Johnny Cash

In My Life

I like Johnny Cash but this song did not work for him. His deep voice needs a little more up-tempo song. We can only breathe a sigh of relief that he did not go any further into the Beatles catalogue.

Sid Vicious

My Way

I saved the worst for last. This abomination must have taken years off of Frank Sinatra’s life. Sid’s irreverence and shrieking is painful for all but the most hardcore fans. Elvis did a good job on his re-make, but Sid absolutely trashed this version.
