White Christmas by Bing Crosby

Where else to start on a list of songs with white in the title than the most obvious one. Despite this song being covered many times over the years, it has never actually reached number one in the UK charts. This one has been closest, peaking at number 5 back in 1977.

White Room by Cream

This song appeared on the 1968 album called Wheels of Fire. White Room was released as a single the year after and peaked at number 28 in the UK charts.

White Punks On Dope by the Tubes

This song appeared on the 1975 album debut album by the Tubes. This song never charted in the US but did manage to reach number 28 in the UK charts, albeit 2 years after the album.

White Lines by Grandmaster Flash

This song by Grandmaster Flash, also featured Melle Mel with the usual backing group of the Furious Five. It peaked at number 7 in the UK charts way back in 1983. It re-entered the charts in 1984, 1985 and 1994.

White Lines by Duran Duran

This cover version of the Grandmaster Flash song managed to hit number 17 in the UK charts for Duran Duran. Interestingly, the cover version used many of the original backing musicians from the original.

White Lie by Foreigner

This Foreigner song came quite late in the day for the band, and certainly after their peak. It was released as a single, but only in the UK and Germany, peaking at numbers 58 and 51 respectively.

White Wedding by Billy Idol

This song appeared on the self-titled Billy Idol album in 1982. It was released as a single in the UK, reaching a high of number 6, 3 years after the album was released.

White Riot by The Clash

This song appeared on the Clash’s debut album and was released in the UK as a single, peaking at number 38 in 1977. The songs intro was changed slightly when released in the US.

White Horses by Jackie Lee

This song was also the theme tune to a TV programme called White Horses that was out in 1968. Jackie Lee’s performance reached number 10 in the UK charts in the same year.

White Cliffs Of Dover by Vera Lynn

This song has been covered by many different artists over the years; including the Righteous Brothers and Mr Acker Bilk and his Paramount Jazz Band. This version is by Vera Lynn who was renowned as being the ‘Forces Sweetheart’.
