Here is a list of 10 songs with gold in the title.

1. Tremeloes – Silence Is Golden

The Tremeloes only ever enjoyed two number one hits in the UK charts. The first one was Do You Love Me in September 1963 and Silence Is Golden was the other one, hitting the top spot in April 1967.

2. Sam Sparro – Black & Gold

It may have taken a while from original release but this Sam Sparro song eventually made it to the number 2 spot in the UK charts. Follow up single 21st Century Life hit a peak of number 44, but since then Sam Sparro has failed to have any more UK chart hits.

3. Kanye West – Gold Digger

This song samples the Ray Charles hit I Got A Woman and features Jamie Foxx. It hit the number 2 spot in the UK charts in October 2005 and went one position better in the US.

4. Neil Young – Heart Of Gold

This was the debut chart hit in the UK for Neil Young and has been by far the biggest hit he has had, reaching a peak of number 10 in March 1972. It did hit the number one spot in the US though!

5. Stone Roses – Fools Gold

This Stone Roses classic was first released as a double A-Side with What The World Is Waiting For in late 1989, reaching a peak of number 8 in the UK charts. It was released again on its own in May 1992 but only reached number 73, but it was re-released in April 1995 and reached a peak of number 25. Fools Gold indeed!

6. Tina Turner – Goldeneye

Songs that have featured as the theme tune for a Bond film tend to be hit and miss, but still manage to generally chart quite high. This Tina Turner offering reached a peak of number 10 in the UK charts in November 1995.

7. Stranglers – Golden Brown

The Stranglers never managed to reach the number one spot in the UK charts but this song was pretty close. Released in early 1982 it reached a peak of number 2 in the UK charts and was their biggest ever hit.

8. East 17 – Gold

As crazy as it may sound, this East 17 song was the only one of their 18 hit singles that never broke in to the top 20 in the UK charts. It only made it to a peak of number 28 in November 1992.

9. Shirley Bassey – Goldfinger

Many people are of the opinon that this is the best song from a Bond film ever but the fact is it didn’t do too well in the charts. Released in October 1964 it only made it to a peak of number 21 in the UK charts.

10. Beautiful South – Good As Gold

The Beautiful South may not be everyone’s cup of tea but they have scored a large number of chart hits over the years. This one here was released in March 1994 and reached a peak of number 23 in the UK charts.
