Here we will take a look at 10 songs with blue in the title, in no particular order. Hope you enjoy.
Just hard to start with a Christmas song; sorry. A lot of people actually think this was a much bigger hit than it actually was. It only reached number 11 in the UK charts when released in 1964. By other peoples standards that might be considered a high number, by Elvis’s standards it wasn’t.
Not one of Elton Johns most famous songs but it still was rather successful. In 1982, when it was released as a single, it reached number 8 in the UK charts.
The Bluetones were part of the Britpop scene although never quite reached the peaks of other bands around the same time. This song did however still manage to reach a rather impressive number 19 in the UK charts in 1995.
Originally performed by different artists in the 1940’s, by the time Fats Domino got round to recording it in 1956 it was a pretty standard rock and roll song. Fats Domino took the song to number 6 in the UK charts.
Mark Wynter was a teen pop-star who turned actor, from 1960 to 1964 he racked up an impressive run of hits. This song was his most popular, reaching number 4 in the Autumn of 1962.
Ok, perhaps the Elvis version is more known but it was written by Carl Perkins. In fact both versions were released in the same year, 1956; Elvis’s version reached number 9 and Perkin’s original only reached number 10 in the UK charts.
This song appeared on Erasure’s fourth album Wild. It was also released as a single and it raced to the number 3 spot in the UK charts in 1990.
Hayward may be better known for the song Forever Autumn, featured in the War of The Worlds album but this was still quite a big hit. It reached number 8 in the UK chart in 1975.
This song has been covered by artists as diverse as Elvis Presley, John Alford and Showaddywaddy, but it was the Marcel’s version that did the best. It was the only version to reach the number one spot in the UK charts, peaking there in 1961.
Eiffel 65 were your atypical one hit wonders. This song was released in 1999, raced to the top of the charts, after-which nothing else was released. Not that that is a bad thing though.
